Bangkok Tour

Bangkok ( Krung Thep: The City of Angels)
Established in 1782 a Thailand’s capital. The official full name of the city is probably the longest in the world:

“
Krung Thep Mahanakorn
Amorn Rattanakosin
Mahintrara Ayutthaya Mahadhilok
Phobnoppharat Ratchathani Burirom
Udom Ratchanivet Mahasathan
Amornphimarn Aowathan Sathit
Sakkhathattiya Vitsanukamprasit”

Bangkok offers an abundance of sites and attractions for tourists and located in the center of the country, is also an excellent stepping-off point for visiting other parts of Thailand. Although the measured pace of old Siam is now a thing of the past, the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage still survives.

See Unique Architecture

Vimanmek Mansion
: The world’s largest golden teakwood mansion with its elaborate architectural styles reflection western influence. It was built in 1900 by the royal command of King Chulalongkorn (1868-1910). There are many exhibition rooms, with the bedrooms, the throne room and bathrooms maintaining the atmosphere of the Thai past. Exhibits include photographs, antique furniture, glassware, porcelain and many other historical items

Wat Benchamabophit or the Marble Temple: The last major temple built in
central Bangkok during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. The nickname, Marble Temple, for the new Wat is derived from the gray Carrara marble used to clad the walls. On display in the cloister are many different Buddha images, both originals and copies of images from around Thailand and other Buddhist countries

Jim Thompson's Thai House: One of the best-preserved traditional Thai houses in Bangkok and finest museums in the country is the former home of Mr. Jim Thompson, an American who came to Thailand at the end of World War II and revived the silk industry. His collection includes antiquities and artworks from all over Southeast Asia. Unlike many other domestic museums, this feels like a lived-in home

The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall & The 5th Arts of Kingdom (Closed on Monday): The Italian Renaissance and Neo Classic style of architecture. The exterior is decorated with marble from Carrara, Italy. The construction of the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall was carried out during the later years of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn's life and to fulfill the late wish of His Majesty King Vajiravudh (Rama VI), it was finally completed in 1915. The construction took eight years.

The objective of this exhibition is to promote the masterpiece of Support’s handicrafts which were once produced only in artisan’s homes.
Today, these traditional skills, some of which are about to disappear, are being gradually expanded to non-artisans, especially in rural areas. A success of this restoration is that the SUPPORT (the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques), founded by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, provides sufficient training to Thai farmers to produce high quality crafts which, in return, was enabled local people to earn extra incomes.
