How the Taxi Service Operates The taxi service at Bangkok Airport has improved recently with more desks being added which seems to have resulted in shorter queues. You line up and tell the dispatcher your destination who will then advise the driver
A ticket will be filled out and a copy will be given to you. This will detail the driver’s operating license number and also has telephone numbers and addresses to contact should you have a problem or complaint so make sure you retain the ticket. The ticket also clearly explains in Thai and English how your fare will be calculated
How Much will be Charged: For destinations in Bangkok you will be charged on the meter rate which is in itself regulated by the Department of Land Transport. Note that the flag-fall charge is 35 Baht which will be displayed on the meter when you start the journey. If you travel via the express-way you will have to pay the tolls. As an example, a trip from the airport to Silom, Sukhumvit or the Riverside area will typically involve two tolls; one at 25 Baht and one at 45 Baht. The meter trip for this journey would be approximately 240 to 280 Baht. On top of the meter charge of 240 to 280 Baht you will also need to pay the fixed airport surcharge of 50 Baht. Therefore, for this trip you can expect to pay as below:
Meter Charge = 280 Baht (Approximately) Express-way = 70 Baht Airport Pick up Surcharge = 50 Baht Total = 400 Baht

Chaophraya Express Boat provides a fast transport service on the Chao Phraya River and transfer to the BTS system is only possible at Saphan Taksin station. 5. Taxi-Meter Maybe the easiest and most comfortable way to get around, if not always the quickest, is by the aircon taxi. These come in quite a few different colours though the green-yellow and red-blue ones are the most common. Bangkok has thousands of taxis, and finding one at any time is never a problem. The occasional exception to this is during a monsoon season downpour. It still reasonable fare start from 35 baht. Just some of them understand English 6. Tuk-Tuk Just of FUN & EXPERIENCE Doing a similar to the taxi is Thailand's ubiquitous Tuk-Tuk. So named because of the sound of their engine, these are motorized rickshaws and are popular amongst tourists for their novelty value. They are occasionally faster than taxis in heavy traffic as weaving in and out is easier, but generally about the same or slower. It's essential to bargain the price with Tuk-Tuk before getting in. If you only ask after the ride, it's likely to end in a request for an ridiculous fare which can obviously lead to an unpleasant situation. A subtle point to remember when in one is not to rest your feet on the rail near the drivers head, as doing so is extremely disrespectful towards the driver
